Contribute towards a more sustainable planet
The diverse group of start-ups that have made it into the top 25 includes for example self-healing concrete made possible by limestone-producing micro-organism, flushable and biodegradable sanitary products, emission-free transportation of goods within cities and leather derived from plants and fruits. They show the broad range of ways businesses can contribute towards a more sustainable planet.

A complete overview of all the nominees can be found here.

Half a million euros and six months of expert coaching
The five finalists will be announced early September. They will pitch their green start-up to an international jury on 3 October in Amsterdam, where the winner will be announced. Along with the grand prize of 500,000 euros for the winner, there will be a 200,000 euro prize for the runner up and 100,000 euro for each of the other finalists. In addition to the prize money, all finalists will receive over six months of expert coaching to optimize their business opportunities.

Last year, the winner was the Dutch start-up The Great Bubble Barrier. The Great Bubble Barrier has developed an air bubble screen for use on riverbeds that catches plastic before it arrives at sea.
