Audax Group today announces the acquisition of online bookstore BookSpot. BookSpot, with its in-depth e-commerce expertise and large collection of Dutch and English books, e-books, music, films and series and games is a valuable addition to the Audax Group. Not just the established e-commerce platform, but also the experienced people of BookSpot will enable Audax to accelerate its e-commerce ambitions for both its own physical stores and those of its franchisees. BookSpot will remain active under the current name.


As of July 2019, high-profile literary publishing house Podium will pursue its activities as part of Publishing House Nieuw Amsterdam, thereby reinforcing Nieuw Amsterdam’s literary character. From this strong platform, director Joost Nijsen, who founded Podium in 1997, expects to be able to offer his authors even better support and commercial opportunities.



Even more prize money 

In addition to the BookSpot Literature Prize, BookSpot will become the title sponsor of the Gouden Strop (Golden Noose) and Schaduwprijs (Shadow Award). BookSpot will be raising the prize money by awarding €1,000 to the BookSpot Gouden Strop nominees and the winner’s prize will be doubled from €10,000 to €20,000. And the prize money for the winner of the BookSpot Schaduwprijs will be doubled from €1,000 to €2,000.

As of 1 March, eci will continue as BookSpot. The change in name is a consequence of all changes that have taken place and will take place at eci. BookSpot.nl and BookSpot.be want to become the place of choice where everything focuses on books.
