Novamedia has a passion for the connecting and enriching power of reading, and is active in the book and publishing field. Novamedia owns the Netherlands’ largest bookstore Scheltema in Amsterdam. It also has a 100% interest in publisher Park Publishers, which consists of the publishers Podium, Bas Lubberhuizen, Fontaine Uitgevers, Nieuw Amsterdam and Wereldbibliotheek. Novamedia has always been active in media. In the past, amongst others it was co-owner of Independent Media, which launched The Moscow Times and Cosmopolitan in Russia in the late nineties.

As of July 2019, high-profile literary publishing house Podium will pursue its activities as part of Publishing House Nieuw Amsterdam, thereby reinforcing Nieuw Amsterdam’s literary character. From this strong platform, director Joost Nijsen, who founded Podium in 1997, expects to be able to offer his authors even better support and commercial opportunities.

Park Publishers is a dynamic, independent publishing house consisting of Bas Lubberhuizen, Fontaine Uitgevers, Podium, Nieuw Amsterdam and Wereldbibliotheek. It is specialised in high-quality books and publishes fiction as well as non-fiction in the categories of literature, art, culture, science, society, lifestyle and current affairs, with a focus on the Dutch market.
